Going through trying to scale a service-based busi Going through trying to scale a service-based business and want to cry?
Here are 6 lessons I’ve learned that can help.
I have learned these over the last 10 years of honing in on my vision of the business and life I want to build and I share them hoping they can help you too.
✨ The best businesses are built at the intersection of where your passion, your skills and opportunity aligns.
Find that intersection. It’s ok to try different things and get it wrong until you get it right
✨ When you find that intersection- go all in. Do not stop at go and do not collect $200.
I often get people reaching out to me for advice on Instagram (fun fact: I need someone to teach me Instagram in 2022) or business planning.
I always decline. Every yes to things not aligned with building my web design agency is a no to what I need to be doing now.
✨ Looking back- the two biggest factors behind bad decisions I’ve made in my business are not listening to my gut and not keeping my long term goals in mind.
Begin with the end in mind, think big and go in with a plan. Stop saying yes to work, clients and opportunities that take you off your path. Even if the temporary income feels great- you will pay with time and energy.
✨ Find people to support you along the journey, ideally some who have similar circumstances, vision and goal.
Networking, building relationships, finding a community who can understand my challenges and support me has been incredibly powerful.
✨ Always focus on up-leveling. Whether it is your skill set, your customer journey, your team, your industry knowledge or your network: constantly be asking how you can get better, be better and do better.
I do a quarterly review with my business manager aka the hubs to see where we can make improvements.
✨ Find the balance between revenue generating activities and actually working *on* your business.
Set up passive income streams, recurring revenue and invest wisely to create predictability in your income.
What’s a lesson you’ve learned as you’ve started and grown your business or side hustle?
Since we’re in the full swing of an Instagram pi Since we’re in the full swing of an Instagram pivot, I figured I should re-introduce myself.
✨ Hi! I am Hafsa- a website designer and digital branding strategist for bloggers, entrepreneurs, small businesses and academics 👋🏻
In the past 3 years, I’ve focused all my energy into building and growing my website design agency and have worked with so many incredible businesses and creatives.
Swipe to see some of the amazing women I’ve worked with in the last year!
I love the experience of working with brilliant female entrepreneurs (over 90% of my clients are 6-figure business owners, more than 70% are also moms) and helping them build websites that reflect just how amazing they are in a creative, supportive and collaborative environment.
I was recently asked in an interview to share 3 fun/interesting facts about myself. I figured I’d share them here too:
1- I own around 15 copies of Pride & Prejudice and always on the lookout for more.
If you see or know of a cute or collectible version, let me know! It’s my favourite book of all time and I reread it at least 2-3 every year.
2- I love plants and flowers. We’re up for over 180 plants inside the house and planting my spring garden is something I look forward to all year round.
My favourite indoor plant is the Monsterra and my favorite flowers have to be peonies with hydrangeas coming in a close second.
3- I am learning to build and enforce personal boundaries.
Some of my boundaries including focusing on respecting my family’s privacy as an online business owner, a zero tolerance for drama, and staying out of pointless online debates.
Drop me a comment and let me know how long you’ve been around and what’s one interesting thing that sticks in your mind about me!
It’s always so fascinating to know what other people find interesting about you.
Happy Friday and have a beautiful, restful weekend ✨
When I took a break from posting on Instagram last When I took a break from posting on Instagram last year, I did not think it would last this long.
Nothing big preceded the break- there was no drama, no big realization, no fundamental shift in belief. I literally was feeling overwhelmed with work and life and needed some space to gather energy and recalibrate.
And something magical happened.
I found space everywhere- space to focus on myself and my physical and emotional well-being; space for my family to be private and really focus on enjoying us without needing to capture every moment for insta; and space to focus on my business and make it thrive like never before.
And I can’t go back.
To all of you who have followed my journey, supported me as I explored where I fit best and finally discovered my place- where my skills, passion and purpose align- I want to say thank you. Your support means the world to me.
To everyone who has checked in and made sure all is well- thank you. I know life is busy and the fact that you took the time out to check in on me means a lot.
One of the main decisions I made during my hiatus is that I will be shifting the focus of this account to be much more about my website design & digital branding business (and much less about personal/lifestyle stuff).
Socrates once said, “the secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but building the new.”
I’ll be building the new Happily Hafsa experience on Instagram. I’m not completely sure what that will look like yet but I’m excited to find out.
I hope you’ll come along, especially if you’re interested in digital branding, website design and the behind the scenes of growing a six figure business as an entrepreneur who is also a mom ✨
And if you’re on LinkedIn, I invite you to come find me over there by looking up Happily Hafsa. I’m finding it much more my speed these days!
What are some exciting things you’ve been up to in the last year?
There is something magical about Ramadan. You ar There is something magical about Ramadan.
You are incredibly aware time. You know when dawn breaks down to the minute. You know when the sun touches the horizon down to the minute. You see the waxing and waning of the moon. You feel the passage of time, hour by hour- day by day.
Ramadan this year was heavy. There was so much loss and sadness- both close to home and around the world.
It was a reminder that life is short and we may not have as much time as we think we do.
For everyone celebrating Eid today- I hope you had a wonderful day full of good food and good times with the people you love best!
The biggest lesson I’m taking away from this past month is to be aware of time and how much time I spend doing the things that matter. I’ve missed all of you and I’m so happy to be back.
Here’s to living each day to the fullest starting with today ✨
